What Are Synthetic Cannabinoids?
Synthetic cannabinoids are psychoactive chemicals that are often sprayed on herbal smoking material and referred to as synthetic marijuana. It is sold in the U.S. under brand names such as K2, K3, Spice, Genie, Smoke, Pot-pourri, Buzz, Pulse, Hush, Mystery, Earthquake, Ocean Blue, Stinger, Serenity and various other names. The user looking for a "legal high" often turn to these herbal smoking or incense products because they do not show up on a standard urine drug testing panel.
The effects of JWH-018 -- named for research chemist John W. Huffman but known better as "Spice" or "K2" -- are similar to marijuana and include anxiety, nausea, hallucinations, paranoia and rapid heartbeat.
